More Performance Art

On Friday, October 12th I attended yet another mind altering dance performance piece by Tahni Holt and Co. The piece is titled "Endless Ocean, Endless Sky" . I am not quite sure what their long-term plans are for the show, but if you happen to see an advertisment for this joint, go fucking see it. It will change the way you look at performance art.

The dome you see in the second picture is made of some sort of poly, and holds ten audience members at a time, plus 1-3 performers. What happens for the next hour + is a beautiful witches brew of light and sound sculpture, dance performance, and breath-taking conceptual alchemy. I look forward to seeing more from this Portland based troupe...find them at:

kind words/ a break from rituaL

Hi there everyone,

I know that not everyone who checks out my blog lives in Portland, but I just wanted to mention that if you ever find yourself near the Portland city limits during the TBA Festival, please do yourself a huge favor and either volunteer for PICA, or buy tickets to every bloody event that you can afford. Here is a list of the performances that I attended over the course of the last two weeks:

Marc "Bamuti" Joseph-
The Living Word Project: the break/s (Work in Progress)
Donna Uchizono Dance Co. (Baryshnikov was part of this one)
William Kentridge-
9 Drawings for Projection
Teeth-Normal and Happy
Kassys- Komer
Hand2Mouth Theater- Repeat After Me
Portland Cello Project
Young Jean Lee's Theater Company- Songs of the Dragons Flying to Heaven
Fred Frith

If I can find the time/ motivation, I might write a review or two...

p.s.- feel free to contact me if you want the lowdown on any of this.

Peace, love, and birdsong,
-David

other media

Here is a picture of a cigar-box Ukulele that I built. It is kind of modeled after a National guitar.
